Cairo, Egypt – DeepTech, part of MCS Group, and Petroleum Marine Services (PMS) have achieved a significant milestone in deepwater projects by completing the offshore operations for Phase 10 of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Gas Field Development Project for Burullus Gas Company, a joint venture between EGPC and Shell Petroleum.

DeepTech and PMS, both Egyptian-based national companies, demonstrated the combined benefits of a private and public-owned entity partnership for the execution of this Engineering, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning (EPIC) project.

The WDDM Phase X Development encompassed the drilling and tie-in of three new wells, which has been integrated into the existing subsea infrastructure as part of the Phase X expansion within the WDDM concession area. The three wells are in water depths ranging from 430 meters to 660 meters.

In record time, DeepTech and PMS successfully brought the Phase 10 three wells into production. Two subsea umbilicals of 5 km and 2 km, providing power to the wells, were installed in simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) between PMS MAYO and PMS Burullus vessels, using DeepTech’s work-class ROVs and MCS’s photo-realistic 3D Cloud (PRC) for accurate 3D subsea metrology and survey operations. The umbilical installation operation totaled 95 hours within a 7-day period.

MCS Group’s subsea engineering team provided all engineering, and PMS their expertise for fabrication, lifting marine operations, and logistics. Project management activities were undertaken by the joint team operating from a dedicated project office in Cairo, Egypt.

With a wealth of experience gained from the Burullus WDDM Field Operation Support Contract executed by the same partners for the past nine years, the MCS Group partnership with PMS is well-positioned to target future developments in the Egyptian offshore sector in a timely and cost-effective manner.
